Why does all of the Sports Media love to cover the Dallas Cowboys so much? and why are the Dallas Cowboys?

still an extremely very popular team eventhough they have not won nor have they been to a Super Bowl in almost 16 years, their longest drought in franchise history, not only that, the Cowboys have not even reached the NFC Championship game since 1995 either, and they have won only 2 playoff games since 1996, and it took at least 13 years to win their first playoff game since 1996 during the 2009 season. But anyway, why are the Dallas Cowboys still the most popular NFL team? I live in Southern California and there are tons of Cowboys fans here and i'm sure it is the same-way else, and i'm sure the vast majority of them are not even from Texas nor have they ever been there, nor do they have any friends or relatives from there either. I know that people have every right to be a fan of whoever they want to, they don't have to be from there in order to be a fan, but meanwhile, look at the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Lakers, both of those Professional Sports franchises are the most popular and most iconic Sports teams in their league(Lakers in NBA), and (Yankees in MLB) but when the Lakers and Yankees went through Championship droughts, all or most of the Sports medias stopped covering them, stopped following them, and also their fan-base dwindled a lot, loss of revenue. Meanwhile the Dallas Cowboys not only lead the entire NFL in revenue, but all of the Big 4 Major Professional Sports Leagues in North America.
